Epic Hyperdrive Support

Are you ready for Epic Hyperdrive?

HCTec’s Epic Hyperdrive Support provides flexible staffing and consulting solutions tailored to your unique infrastructure and project requirements.

What is Epic’s Hyperdrive?

Epic Hyperdrive is a web-based framework built from the ground up to replace Epic’s Hyperspace, an application client. Hyperdrive will be built on Chromium and will no longer require Citrix on end-users’ systems. The system will provide improved network latency tolerance, lower processor demands, and maintain an overall smaller footprint.

Why is Hyperdrive Important?

Epic is currently advising health systems to begin the process of upgrading and optimizing their systems for the move to Hyperdrive. Existing applications, modules, and 3rd-party plug-ins will need to be reworked to operate with Hyperdrive. This impacts departments that rely heavily on technical applications that communicate with Epic’s Hyperspace (i.e., radiology, finance, etc.).

How will this impact you?

As of the November 2023 version, Epic will require nearly all systems to be migrated to Hyperdrive. Applications and systems not optimized for the Hyperdrive upgrade may not work properly or may stop functioning. Health organizations will need to reallocate staff and resources to the upgrading and optimization of their systems to maintain operations.
