Tennessee HIMSS Announces President-Elect and Five New Board Members
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Tennessee Chapter of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), has welcomed the election of Perception Health CEO J. Tod Fetherling as President Elect, along with five new members to its Board of Directors. Fetherling will serve a one-year period as President-Elect that began July 1 and then begin his two-year role as chapter President beginning July 1, 2020.
“Tod brings a wealth of experience to the chapter in this role. He’s the inspiration behind our HIT Workforce Accelerator program, developed in concert with Belmont University. He’s a tireless leader, speaker, educator and contributor to our students, audiences and TN HIMSS members. He’s a rock within the Nashville information technology ecosystem and will bring new ideas and opportunities to our Chapter, supporting the HIMSS mission — better health through information and technology,” said Eric Thrailkill, current President of Tennessee HIMSS.
In addition to Perception Health, a leading healthcare data science company helping clients find insights and visualizations to provide and predict clinical care algorithms, Fetherling also brings his experiences from Stratasan, First Consulting and The Greater Nashville Technology Council, where he served as President from 2008 to 2011.
New elected Board Members joining the chapter include:
- Rob Borella, VP Marketing and Sales Operations, HCTec
- Brad Morrow, VP of Sales, 3D Technology
- Tammy Hawes, Founder and CEO of Virsys12
- Will Rice, Director of the Vanderbilt Health Alliance Network, Vanderbilt University

“I’m incredibly excited to announce these five new Board Members,” Thrailkill added. “They each bring a unique perspective to the challenges of our industry and are forward thinking with results and solutions to enable our Chapter to continue our upward trajectory enabling information and technology solutions for better health.”
The five new Board Members will join 29 existing Board Members and Officers in accelerating the programs and services provided to Chapter members. Recently, the Chapter co-hosted an event with the American Medical Association, hosted a Cybersecurity panel for a sold-out audience, conducted two “CIO Dinners” where hosts shared perspective on integration strategies and large-scale EHR implementations and routinely participate as speakers for the HIT Workforce Accelerator Program.
The Chapter will sponsor the Healthcare Track at the upcoming GNTC Analytics Summit, and in April of 2020, will host the Summit of the Southeast, the TN HIMSS premier annual healthcare event.
Tennessee HIMSS was recently awarded the “Large Chapter of the Year” by the National HIMSS organization at the annual Global Conference.
